Osprey Aura 65 AG Review

Throughout our Osprey Aura 65 AG Review, we found this womens backpack from Osprey to be a great product. Osprey is known for their high-quality backpacks and the Aura 65 is no exception. With great comfort and a high-quality build, you will be using this backpack for a long time. If you are looking for a high-quality bag that will stand the test of time than the Osprey Aura 65 AG is a great option.

The Osprey Women’s Aura 65 AG Backpack is very comfortable. There is no weight on the shoulders at all and it fits very snug on the waist. The Anti-Gravity technology is incredibly comfortable in summer heat and beneath a heavy weight load. From day hikes to multi-day backpacking, the Aura AG can comfortably carry your gear. The suspension system and way the hip belt folds around my hips made it work so nothing pulled on the top of my shoulders and there was plenty of air flow across my back. Mesh fabric helped a lot on my back too, so I didn’t sweat climbing uphill in the sun. My favorite parts – the waist belt that holds the weight right where it’s supposed to be, the mesh so that you don’t have pools of back sweat, the simple design which has enough but not too many bells and whistles.

Organizational Storage

There are 11 external pockets on the Osprey Women’s Aura 65 AG Backpack. This pack is easy to use and easy to organize your gear. Having two extra zipped pockets on the back made it easy to sort my stuff and quickly move food and scented items into bear containers when we arrived at camp. I Love that my sleeping bag can slip in and out of the bottom without moving everything else. My sleeping pad on back left room for water in each side pocket (had considered large side pocket backpack for sleeping pad to fit in). My iPhone, chapstick, portable battery charger, and other very small items fit in hip belt pockets and were easily accessible. The stretch side pockets are great for water bottles and have two different angles of access making it super easy to grab my water bottle without having to remove my pack or ask my husband to get it for me. The front stretch pocket is roomy and can accommodate a few extra layers and a rain cover for quick access. Inside there is lots of room for tent, food, jacket and winter accessories, change of clothes, and lots of water.

The removable floating lid is an awesome feature when you want to carry smaller loads. Having two zippered compartments in hood made it easy to sort additional items. An emergency kit, rope, etc. could be in one pocket where I hope not to need them, while the other pocket held small items needed in camp. All the compression straps also work wonderfully to strap down a smaller load making this a very versatile pack for me.

Aura 65 AG Pack has a simple, feminine design with women’s specific shaping in the shoulder straps, hip belt, and overall fit. The color choice is great and I like the design. It’s easy to spot at baggage claim, as well.

Water resistance

I don’t care for slogging through rain and mud, but when I have to I LOVE this backpack for making it easier! The large Osprey UtraLight Pack Rain cover is the best bet for the Aura 65 AG Pack.

Public Opinion

The Good

I’ve looked for a while for the most comfortable 65-70L backpack, because comfort is everything. I tried on everything, multiple times. As far as comfort goes, this one was perfect! Plenty of storage space, adjustable in all the right places, allows me to properly distribute weight. WORTH THE MONEY! The pack has bottom access, removable top, trekking pole holders, and all the bells and whistles of a good multi-day backpack. Okay it didn’t come with bells, but it actually does have a whistle! In the short time I’ve had this bag, I’ve used it on everything from overnighters to a six-day trek, with bear canister, and loved it! The front mesh pocket is great, and I can put my solar charger in it, and it still gets sun to charge!

  • Love the antigravity mesh. It keeps the sweaty back syndrome from happening.

  • The durability is excellent. The material is high quality and I have the rainforest green color, which doesn’t show dirt and wear much at all. Osprey packs are insured with the ‘All Mighty Guarantee’; if your pack is damaged for any reason, they’ll repair or replace it for free!

  • It’s super light. The reservoir is perfect size. This pack disperses the weight of the load so evenly and comfortably. I never feel like I am carrying as much as I actually am. I can bend and move so freely with no rubbing or irritation and I don’t feel any point of pressure of weight in a single spot. It is very easily adjustable to get the perfect fit. The Osprey Aura 65 pack is light, breathable, and very spacious.

The Bad

Hip Belt

  • The hip-belt pockets could be just a little bigger (doesn’t fit a phone and things can be hard to get out of the pocket).

Osprey Aura 65 Review

Bang for your buck

Though some reader may think this bag is a tad expensive, we still believe it is well worth its price tag. When consumers decide to purchase the Aura 65 AG hiking backpack they know they are purchasing quality. Yes there are cheaper backpacks on the market, but if you are looking for the quality product that is offered by Osprey you will not find it cheaper than this bag.

The Verdict

From day hikes to multi-day backpacking, the Aura AG can comfortably carry your gear. The pack has lots of padding and I did not experience any back or shoulder pain. I like the venting system against my back as it kept me cool all day long in warm weather. I actually didn’t even notice I was sweating until I took the pack off! It doesn’t have mesh anywhere on the outside and since I hike in terrain that often has brush and trees, this keeps my pack from getting snagged and ruined as I am wearing it. It has plenty of room for all my gear, and even has room to spare. It does have a lot of straps, but I like this fact because it allows me to adjust around my gear, keeping it secure enough that it doesn’t move around inside while I am on the move. Overall if you are looking for a high quality hiking bag for a fair price look no further than the Osprey Aura 65 AG.
