Osprey Raptor 14 Review

This company was founded in 1974 and has passed the test of time. Its founder, Mike Pfotenhauer, being an avid hiker, has had a very hands on approach with every product they produce. Since the company started, it has been his very passion to make sure every pack is made with the highest quality for every customer. And as we found throughout our Osprey Raptor 14 review this backpack lives up to the Osprey name.

This backpack offers a good amount of comfort for those long hikes and bike rides. It has upper and lower compression straps to help stabilize the load. The shoulder straps were specially designed for a comfortable fit on a person’s shoulders in addition to the BioStretch harness for optimum support and comfort. The pack also offers an AirScape Backpanel to promote airflow and reduce the amount of heat trapped between the bag and a consumer’s back. Not to mention it also has a full hip belt for those who like extra support.

Organizational storage

For a water pack, this bag offers a good amount of storage with five exterior zipper pockets. It gives you a top zipper pocket for easy access to sunglasses and electronics. It also has a front mesh pocket for smaller items and internal sleeves for organization. What we found to be really nice was a convenient roll up tool pouch that is removable if one would like. In addition it has a helmet attachment clip for before hitting the trail.

Public opinion

In this section of our review we look to the consumers to get a better understanding of the product. We found that by analyzing real consumers reviews we could truly understand how our readers will receive the product. We weigh this part of our review quite heavily in our ratings as no one knows better of the products quality than the final consumer. To do this analysis we read over hundreds of reviews from all over the web and summarize their thoughts. Here is what the users of the Fjallraven Kanken had to say.

The Good

Users of this bag raved when it came to comfort. They especially liked the fit of the pack during use because of the straps really holding it close to their bodies. It also doesn’t matter what build a person is because the pack will adjust and still fit great. Not to mention consumers loved the AirScape lining on the back of the pack highlighting that even after long rides their backs were still dry.

This pack really seems to prove the test of time. With its all Nylon fabric, it stands up in durability. Users actually seemed very impressed with this pack and how it holds up, even in comparison to big name brands they had used before. Overall, it seems to be well constructed.

Weight didn’t seem to be an issue for consumers with this pack. However, they did mention they often remove the tool pouch when they didn’t need it because it was just extra weight. Lots of customers use the pack for biking and running, but some said the pack was a little large for on foot and preferred it for riding. But there didn’t seem to be one review saying it was a heavier pack than any other.

The Bad

Some consumers said that the pack is not very versatile for longer bike rides into a more rural area because the water pack takes up most of the space and they wanted to fit more gear. They also mentioned that the mouth piece was easily breakable.

Overall there were very few poor reviews on this pack. Most consumers seemed very pleased with the comfort, weight, and how user friendly the bag was. Many said they would purchase it again and even liked it more than previous packs they had used as avid bikers and runners.

Bang for Your Buck

This pack is a great investment. It is more geared towards day excursions that aren’t out in extremely rural areas. But it still offers a good amount of storage and is very comfortable for long periods of time. Overall it is a great pack to consider because it is so versatile and user friendly for more than one type of exercise or body type. Considering it isn’t as big of a brand name as some, it still offers amazing quality and customer satisfaction.
